Grand Prix Racewear have been selling the best of race & kartwear for over 30 years! Currently operating from our showroom at Silverstone Circuit, the home of British Motorsport.
The Potted History of Grand Prix Racewear
The Early Years: Motorsport Stars David & Fiona Kennedy Begin The Legacy (1987- 2008)
Grand Prix Racewear was established in 1987 in London by former Irish F1 driver David Kennedy & his wife Fiona Kennedy (a former racer herself). The business quickly established itself as the UK’s premier racewear emporium.
The BRDC Presisdent: Ray Bellm Becomes Involved (1994 - 2008)
Having had a base in Power Road, Chiswick for numerous years, the business also set up a location at Silverstone under the stewardship of Ray Bellm, a successful ex-racer and BRDC Chairman, who in 1994 had bought a majority stake in the company.
During this period, the current contemporary showroom and warehouse facility was designed and built by award winning architect Jane Lock-Smith. The Silverstone showroom facility is seen as the best facility of its kind in the UK and Europe and is now open 7 days a week (in season) to enable customers to view, sample and purchase the many products on display.
The Zip Kart Years: Karting Legend Martin Hines & Family (2008 - 2018)
In 2008 the business was purchased by Martin Hines, a former Superkart Multiple World Champion and owner of the renowned Zip Kart company. Martin ran the company himself before his untimely death in 2011, after which GPR was run by his family and the trust foundation set-up by Martin.
The New Start: FF Corse & Anthony Cheshire (2018 - Current)
The business was sold again at the end of 2018 to Anthony Cheshire, owner of FF Corse, a Silverstone based company which has specialized in preparing, managing and running Ferrari GT cars for clients at the circuit for over 10 years.
During the last year, the current owner has invested heavily to further develop the Grand Prix Racewear business and in that period has grown the range of racewear items and developed a new website to enable customers to have a wider choice and easier accessibility to the latest racewear products, both instore and online.
Building on brand strength and core values of the business from the last 30 years, Grand Prix Racewear plans to continue to establish itself as the premier UK supplier of Racewear and associated products.
