In adherence to the most recent FIA homologation standards, specifically FIA 8859-2024 and FIA 8860-2024, a significant enhancement has been made to helmet visor systems. These standards now require a visor locking mechanism that allows for easy access and release by a second person, even when they are wearing gloves. This important feature ensures that assistance can be rendered quickly during critical moments.

Moreover, the FIA 8859-2024 standards specify that this visor locking system must include a unique locking feature that keeps the visor securely positioned in a half-inch open state. This design not only facilitates essential airflow but also effectively minimises fogging, ensuring that drivers maintain clear visibility in various conditions.

All Bell Racing helmets crafted to comply with these 2024 FIA homologation standards, whether constructed from lightweight carbon fiber or durable composite materials, come equipped with the innovative SmartLock™ visor system.

It’s important to note that helmets certified for both SA2025 and FIA 8859-2024 will feature the SmartLock™ system. However, those helmets that are rated solely for SA2025 may not include this advanced feature, highlighting the distinction in safety technology across different certification levels.
